80% of First Year Fellows attended FIND last year!
Fellowship Information and Networking Day (FIND) will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2017 at the Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy from 3:30-8:00pm. Registration begins at 2:30pm.
Allison Doherty, PharmDGlobal Medical Affairs: OncologyMerck & Co., Inc.FIND is an opportunity to gain unmatched exposure to fellows, preceptors, and stakeholders before the interview process begins. I spoke to my preceptor for the first time at FIND, and we immediately hit it off. I didn't have a chance to interview with her at the Midyear, but when I went on site we both remembered each other from FIND and easily picked up from our last conversation. I think my entire interview experience would have been completely different if I had not attended FIND.
Irene Okeke, PharmDGlobal Medical Affairs: OncologyMerck & Co., Inc.I had a phenomenal experience at FIND where I was able to gain valuable insight into the medical affairs role as well as network with current fellows across an array of companies. It was at this unique networking event where I established the unparalleled connection with the preceptor who would soon be a key component to my fellowship position at Merck. I would encourage everyone to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to make vital connections with current RPIF fellows as well as network with key stakeholders from a variety of our partner companies.
Joseph Pariseau, PharmDClinical Research and Development FellowCelgene CorporationWhen I attended FIND as a candidate a year ago, it was a great opportunity to network with current fellows and preceptors to ask them questions about the company and the fellowship program. At the Celgene booth, I was able to meet one of the clinical research scientists who is now a colleague of mine who also graduated from the MCPHS University pharmacy program (my alma mater) and supports the New England Patriots football team! Overall, FIND was a rewarding experience, and many of the people that I met conducted my initial interviews at Midyear.
Alice Kim, PharmDMedical CommunicationsBayer HealthCare PharmaceuticalsI remember walking into FIND not knowing what to expect or who to talk to. Afterwards, I was able to walk out fully confident and more knowledgeable about the entire recruitment process for the RPIF program. I also spoke to my current program director, executive sponsor, and two fellows in the same position that I am in now at FIND. I strongly believe that FIND is an educational and enjoyable event where candidates can network with potential colleagues and discover more about careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
Alex Hendzel, PharmD, M.P.A.Drug Regulatory Affairs Post-Doctoral FellowNovartisBeing from the Midwest, it was difficult to gain very much fellowship information and exposure. I'm so thankful that I attended FIND, because I was able to meet current fellows and preceptors from each sponsor company, as well as further narrow down my top program choices. This made me much more comfortable throughout the interview process, since I was being greeted by familiar faces.
Divisha Dixit, PharmDRegulatory Affairs: Advertising and PromotionBristol-Myers SquibbAttending FIND last year was a definitive, positive step in my journey towards obtaining a fellowship. I appreciated the opportunity it gave me to gain vital firsthand perspectives from fellows and preceptors. I then used the information I gained to identify key insights and narrow the scope of positions that I was interested in. Without having those conversations at FIND and the unique environment in which it provided me to network with all positions at once, I may not have been able to make as clear of an informed decision and prepare myself for Midyear.
Cassie Ding, PharmDCardiovascular Medical Strategy/Field MedicalBristol-Myers SquibbI went to pharmacy school in California and visited New Jersey for FIND last year. It was such a valuable experience because I got to learn about all the different Medical Affairs fellowships that Rutgers had to offer. It was also at FIND that I was able to meet my future preceptor for the first time!
Gediminas Pliura, PharmDMarketing SciencesDaiichi-SankyoI came to FIND with a goal of getting exposure before the Midyear. All in all it's like a scaled down Midyear. FIND is really a great place ask those exploratory questions you may not be able to while interviewing as well as learn about the culture and environment of the partner company. The key is to do some preliminary research come prepared with good questions. With that in mind, FIND is an invaluable first taste of the fellowship program.
Mengsong Li, PharmDTranslational PharmacologyMerck & Co., Inc.Networking with the fellows and preceptors at FIND was invaluable in my application process and a great way to practice for your interviews as well! You will be surprised at how many people will recognize you at Midyear from FIND. I highly suggest attending even if you are not graduating this year and just want to learn more about working in the pharmaceutical industry.
Sean Caltabiano, PharmDGenerics Regulatory AffairsTevaI can remember being intimidated by the hundreds of other people at FIND I went into the networking portion with an idea of companies I wanted to speak with, but I didn't know much more. Right inside the door, someone extended their hand and introduced themselves to me and eased any tension I felt with a simple friendly conversation. Who would have known I would hold on to that for this long? Now, I am proud to say I am the first fellow with that very friendly company, Teva.
Ramya Mathew, PharmDRegulatory Advertising and PromotionNovartis Pharmaceuticals CorporationAttending FIND was what solidified my decision to pursue a fellowship in the Pharmaceutical Industry, as well as opened my eyes to the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship (RPIF) Program. Not only did it give me the opportunity to have face time with the companies and current fellows in the program, but I was also able to learn more about the specific fellowships being offered - more than I would have learned through my own research. The event is a great way to start your search for the fellowship that fits your wants and needs.
Pranvi Parekh, PharmD, MBACorporate and Government CustomersBayer HealthcareFIND is a completely unique experience for each and every candidate. For me, this day gave me an opportunity to gain better understanding of what the RPIF program had to offer. It allowed me to interact with future co-fellows and mentors as I started my journey through the interview and application process. I found FIND to be invaluable time spent as a candidate, and I hope future candidates find it as worthwhile and memorable as I did.
Joe Fiore, PharmDLate Stage Clinical DevelopmentMerck & Co., Inc.I was pleasantly surprised when many of my Midyear interviewers remembered me from our conversations at Rutgers Fellowship Information and Networking Day!
Zac Post, PharmDUS Field MedicalNovartisThe FIND experience is extremely valuable and essential in obtaining a Rutgers fellowship. Not only do you learn more about the available opportunities, but you also have time to network directly with current fellows and leadership within the respective companies. I very excited to see that the companies I was interested in remembered me at Midyear from my experience at FIND!
The Institute for Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships is pleased to offer candidates the opportunity to learn more about the program and begin the interviewing and application process prior to the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting!
Please note that the dress code for this event is professional attire. You may bring business cards, however, your curriculum vitae will not be accepted at this event.
