Position Detailed Descriptions
The Promotional Compliance Fellowship is a part of the Pharmaceutical Group Health Care Compliance organization within Johnson & Johnson (J&J). It is a 2-year fellowship focused on providing a unique opportunity for the fellow to develop knowledge, and expertise within both the Health Care Compliance, and Regulatory Advertising and Promotion areas of the pharmaceutical industry. The fellow will have an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the importance of Health Care Compliance program, industry codes, J&J HCC policies, and Federal and State laws as it relates to pharmaceutical companies interactions with Health Care Professionals (HCPs). In addition, the fellow will develop skills to interpret FDA regulations and guidance as it relates to Advertising and Promotion of prescription drugs and biologics to HCPs and consumers. This program provides the fellow an opportunity to work directly with internal business partners on various projects to ensure promotional communications, and interactions with HCPs are in compliance with various laws and regulations.
Commercial Insights and Strategy
The two-year Commercial Insights and Strategy (CIS) fellowship position is a dynamic development opportunity where the fellow learns how to leverage their existing knowledge base to effectively generate insights used for driving key business decisions. The position allows the fellow to gain experience in several areas of the CIS group, including marketing analytics, sales analytics, market research, and business intelligence. The CIS fellow maintains open communication with the entire commercial organization to ensure alignment aiding in developing strategies to keep business ahead of the curve. To be successful, the fellow must stay abreast of evolving literature related to the specific therapeutic area as well as staying up-to-date of the competitive landscape. As part of the Commercial Excellence group of Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical sector, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, we emphasize a team-oriented structure in which the fellow works closely with business partners such as Marketing, Managed Markets, Sales, Sales Training, and Medical Affairs. The fellow also collaborates with various outside consultants and agencies to conduct objective and impactful marketing research and/or business intelligence. Strong written and oral communication skills are important, along with the ability to interact effectively with individuals in diverse areas of expertise and seniority. No experience is required, although candidates should possess intellectual curiosity, learning agility, and express interest in developing strategic thinking and analytical skills.
Medical Information, Infectious Diseases
The Medical Information Fellowship offers experience in the practice of medical information for a variety of settings. Our goal is to provide advanced training and a solid foundation for pharmacists to become future leaders in the medical information specialty. The fellow will directly engage in clinical information exchange with healthcare professionals and work with internal and external partners. The fellow will also have opportunities to lead and participate in projects in areas of interest. Medical Information professionals at Janssen are in a unique position to empower our strategic business partners and customers with knowledge to impact patient care. The department is staffed with advanced degree medical professionals who are recognized as product and therapeutic knowledge experts. These professionals leverage intelligence and understanding of the customer, science, and healthcare environment to create insights that generate a positive impact on public health. Scientific support is provided on behalf of Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC for products marketed by Janssen Biotech, Inc., Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Janssen Products, LP, Janssen Therapeutics, Division of Janssen Products, LP. This unique 2-year position will provide the fellow with experiences at the following practice sites:
- Six months in the first year with the Drug Information Service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, an academic medical center in New Brunswick, NJ
- Six months in the first year with the Medical Information Center at Janssen in Titusville, NJ
- The full second year with Medical Information at Janssen
Global Clinical Science & Epidemiology
Actelion, a Janssen Pharmaceutical Company of Johnson & Johnson, offers a two-year Global Clinical Science & Epidemiology fellowship that provides a longitudinal experience in Clinical Development, from protocol development for Ph2 - 3 clinical studies to study completion. The fellow will be included in the Actelion Clinical Trial Team (CTT) where the fellow will be trained on study conduct and oversight. The fellow will develop a sound understanding of the science and medicine in the assigned therapeutic area, with support for annual attendance at a US conference/congress in the applicable therapeutic area, and experience drafting study documents such as protocols, informed consents, as well as the clinical section of the investigator brochure, and the clinical section of regulatory documents, INDs, and briefing books. The Global Clinical Science & Epidemiology fellowship will be recruiting one fellow for the 2018-2020 timeframe.

Global Scientific Communication and Engagement
This 2-year program is a joint effort between Rutgers and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. (JJCI). This program emphasizes the functions of medical communication, education and training, and healthcare professional engagement related to some of the most popular consumer healthcare brands in the world. The successful candidate will utilize their clinical knowledge and skills to develop content for scientific publications and medical conferences, conduct internal and external training, and collaborate with influential thought leaders in a variety of therapeutic areas including Oral Care, Baby Care, Skin and Hair Care, and Wound Care. The Fellow will engage in the exchange of data and knowledge in a scientific and balanced manner as they relate to clinical research, disease state awareness, pipeline assets, therapeutic trends, and claims support at a global level. This unique experience at JJCI will allow the Fellow to obtain a distinct skillset from a typical medical affairs structure and develop expertise in the most recognized consumer brands available on the market. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as Professional and Consumer Marketing, Clinical Affairs, and Policy and Advocacy.
Office of Consumer Medical Safety
The Office of Consumer Medical Safety Fellowship is a two-year program offered by Rutgers and Johnson and Johnson Consumer Inc. (JJCI). The fellowship emphasis is in medical safety. The successful candidate will be exposed to an end-to-end pharmacovigilance experience including global case management, aggregate reporting, benefit-risk evaluations and risk management of adverse events, global marketing activity complaint management, safety vendor oversight, and audit and inspection readiness. University-based experiences include a Professional Development Series and opportunities for collaborative research, publication, and teaching. These fellowships provide a broad knowledge base in corporate activities and promote the role of the Pharm.D. in the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical industry.
